This is the Patch for the 1.0 *US* Version only.

The UK, US and ELV versions were sold to many different contries. Be sure to verify which version you have before installing the patch.

If you have an english verision of Fallout 2, then you have one of 3 versions. US: Version number before the patch is 1.0, the only version with this number. The box is the same as the one on the web page. This CD is Not gold.

(Use THIS patch) UK: The UK and ELV are both version 1.01 and have a gold CD. On the UK version, the violence levels can be changed and the language filter button can be turned on and off. It does NOT have the letters 'ELV' noted on the CD. (Use the UK patch) ELV: English Low Violence. The violence levels can not be altered and the language filter button is either not there or can not be manipulated. There currently is not a patch for this version.

Applying a patch from any of the other versions will severely corrupt the game. Other Versions: If you have the French or German version, you will need the French or German patch. If you have the Low Violence English version, you should NOT use this patch. Contact the US or UK Customer Service if you are uncertain if you have the US, UK, or ELV version. Applying the wrong patch will corrupt portions of the game, especially if you have the Low Violence English version. If you have saved games from an early beta patch, the Final US patch IS compatible with those saved games. The Beta patch was just that - a Beta - so if you were having problems with your saved games with the Beta patch, we recommend that you completely start over.

Here is a patch that fixes bugs listed below (to find out about them, see the readme.txt and this file). When you start the game, it will show that you're running the.

Be sure to check (1.4) README CHANGES for a list of modified sections of this readme from version 1.0. (1.1) PATCH INSTALLATION ------------------------ The patch is self extracting.

Simply copy it to your system and run the patch.exe from any directory. It will ask you for the path that you originally installed Fallout 2 to unzip the patch files to. The path when installing the patch will default to the original Fallout 2 installation default directory.

If you installed in somewhere else, change the directory to the appropriate path. After the F2patch.exe uncompresses, there is nothing else that needs to be done.

Do not delete the patch000. Milk It Big on this page. dat or any other file that it created. If you get a 'Can not find/load text fonts' error message, then it could be one of three things: 1. Your Fallout2.cfg file has been modified and is no longer referencing the Master.dat and the Critter.dat as being in the correct place. These two files should be in the main folder where you installed Fallout 2. Change the path in the Fallout2.cfg to reflect the proper path for these files. You need to have the CD in CD Rom drive. Even if you have a huge install, try inserting the CD.

Your Fallout2.exe or Readme.txt might have become read only. Right click on each of them and select properties. Check the attributes section to be sure that Read Only does NOT have a check mark next to it. If you have problems with the patch, contact the US customer service, see section 5.1.
