In July 1980 Paul Singleton and Chris Leaning opened a record shop in Lincolnshire, England. It opened under the name “All Tomorrow’s Parties” — but later moved to the city center and was renamed “Parade.” Through their growing local music scene and the separation of economic classes, their shop became the hangout for the local punk movement. It was here where the idea for “Household Shocks” a compilation of their friend’s bands was born.

Containing rare tracks, including one so rare called “Radioactive Man” by Fault 151, that it was the only song the band ever recorded. Since then it has become a time stamp on a very brief moment in early post-punk. Recorded at Studio Playground less than 100 copies of it were pressed on blue vinyl. We put together an incomplete set of the tracks as some of them are still nowhere to be found. But this is something special, even in pieces.

You can read more about this album and the bands. Bands featured are Product of Reason, Thunderboys, One Gang Logic, Sinking Ships, Juveniles, Mystery Girls, Defectors, Fault 151 and Urbantech. *If you can find any of the missing tracks, please hit us up at hello@whatyouth.com We would love to add them.
